Ivette Kabele
Convenience Store Owner
Democratic Republic of Congo

With each of the three loans Ivette Kabele received from HOPE Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), her small convenience store became more profitable.  When her neighbors saw how she was able to leverage her loans into a profitable business, they too began to inquire about joining one of HOPE DRC’s community banks.  Mama Ivette supports 10 children – five biological and five adopted – with the proceeds from her business.  Some of these children were orphaned and others lived in families where food and shelter were simply unavailable.

Mama Ivette says that today her children are all in good health.  Their growth is on track because she has been able to purchase more nutritious food.  Her children also attend school.  Mama Ivette says that her business assets have grown from $50 to $400.  She is proud to be able to contribute financially to her church.
