I hope you are enjoying the summer and are doing well!

I am closing my summer with an event I am really looking forward to -- the Walk for Economic Empowerment, to be held in Boston, DC/Baltimore, Charlotte, and Columbus (OH) the end of September and beginning of October. As you may know, almost half of the people in our world live on less than $2 per day. It's a much different world than most of us know, but it's a world I am reaching out to by raising funds for microfinance through this Walk.  Microfinance provides small amounts (often less than $200) in loan capital and basic business training to the materially poor to start their own small businesses through which they can provide for their families and become agents of transformation in their communities. It also provides safe, efficient means for the materially poor to save for their many rainy days.  PEER Servants, HOPE International, and World Relief are cosponsoring the Walk and, while all three are excellent organizations in the area of microfinance, I have chosen to walk for PEER Servants.   100% of the proceeds from the Walk will go to provide for the materially poor in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
