| The 2010 Walk for Economic Empowerment offers you the opportunity to positively impact the materially poor of our world. Over 40% of our world lives on $2 or less each day and programs like microfinance are some of the most efficient, effective means of empowering them. Through microfinance, the materially poor can have access to small amounts of loan capital (often not exceeding $200 initially) and basic business training and start a small business that can provide for themselves, their families, their churches, and their communities. They can also have a safe and convenient place to save money to help weather life's many storms. 100% of the proceeds of the Walk go to economic empowerment programs in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean, or Latin America affiliated with World Relief, HOPE International, Rebuild Africa, and PEER Servants. These four Christian community development organizations have joined together as cosponsors of this Walk to offer you an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and be a blessing to the materially poor. |
